who we are

blu is made by the lycoris labs inc. ("we", "us"). these terms cover this website and the blu companion, including blu, bea, max and mia.

using blu

you can use blu for yourself, for free, for as long as it's offered. please don't:

• use blu to harass, threaten or harm anyone;
• try to break, overload or get around how the site works, or copy it at scale with automated tools;
• pretend to be us, or use blu's characters or name to suggest we made or approve something we didn't.

the ai

in the blu app, replies are written by an open-source language model running on your phone. each model is used under its own open-source licence, shown in the app's settings. the transparency page explains how it works and what it's not good at.

a companion, not a substitute for care

blu is software. it listens and answers kindly, but it isn't a doctor, therapist, counsellor or emergency service, and its replies can be wrong or miss what you meant. please don't rely on blu for decisions about your health, safety, money or legal matters.

age

blu is made for people aged 13 and over. if you're under 18, please use blu with a parent or guardian's okay.

your words

what you type is yours. in the app, your conversations stay on your phone and are never sent to us. on this website, they stay in your browser. the privacy page explains exactly what happens.

our work

the blu name, the characters blu, bea, max and mia, their drawings and animation, and the design and code of this site belong to the lycoris labs inc. you may share links and screenshots of blu, but please don't reuse the characters or name in your own products without asking us first.

the newsreader typeface belongs to its authors and is used under the sil open font license.

changes

blu will keep changing, and so may these terms. when they do, we'll update the date at the top; for a change that matters, we'll also say so on the site. using blu after a change means you accept the new terms.

no guarantees

we work hard to make blu kind and reliable, but we provide it "as is", without promises that it will always be available, error-free or right. as far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect or unexpected losses from using blu. nothing here takes away rights you have by law that can't be taken away.

ending

you can stop using blu at any time. we may limit or end access for anyone who misuses it, and we may change or stop offering blu.
